Barbara Lyter
Barbara Lyter
began as a photographer for the Los
Angeles County Museum of Art in 1987. There her
love of textiles began, but It was not until the early
90’s that she turned from to textile art for her creativity.
“My work is drawn from a lifetime in fine art and I enjoying
exploring new techniques,” Lyter explains of her work. “My
inspiration stems from my studies of the masters, cave
paintings, and I also love and am inspired by Australian
Aboriginal art.
Lyter
studied with nationally renowned fiber artists Jane Dunnewold
and Oak Harbor ’s Gail Harker last summer and she found their
classes to be a turning point in her development.
Kim Niles
I'm a full-time
Artist, Illustrator and Author. I've been a working Artist since
1998. It wasn't, however, until
2004 when I began to experiment with India inks and color pencils
on scraps of watercolor paper,
that I began the journey to developing my unique style of
whimsical art. These small
originals, affectionately referred to as “Mini Kini's”,
are virtual snapshots of the way
I see and experience the world around me. On a daily basis, I try
to remember to experience life
and art-making with the enthusiasm of a child: Wonder at the
beauty that surrounds us...
Experiencing sheer joy simply from seeing breathtaking color...
Giddiness when an artwork I've
created makes someone else as happy to own as it made me to make it.... and humor – unabashed humor
– to laugh not only at the silly whimsy in life, but at myself
as well. I find no greater joy as an Artist than when through my
work, my inner animal-loving, day-dreaming
child has connected with yours.
