For the last 25 years Kent has mined for gold underwater in the Bering Sea off the coast of Nome, Alaska. If the sea is too rough, Kent walks the beaches of Nome collecting beach glass and uses the gold and beach glass in his jewelry.
Kent is a retired physics/chemistry teacher from Alaska. His wife, also a teacher, taught art and jewelry making classes. While visiting her classes to see what her students were doing he caught the bug and at retirement went to jewelry school in Portland.
He has learned a wide variety of techniques and enjoys the lost wax technique and fabrication, using both gold and sterling silver. Fluidity and kinetics are his major themes and each piece is original and unique.
