These were the statements that appeared on report cards throughout my early school years - so often that I dreaded progress report day. I've had dual citizenship between real life and my inner world from a very early age. Having survived early childhood instruction where kids are taught the importance of coloring inside the lines, it wasn't until I learned to value the lines themselves, that I really began to feel at home in both my worlds.

Artist Biography

I'm a full-time Artist, Illustrator and Author. I've been a working Artist since 1998. It wasn't, however, until 2004 when I began to experiment with India inks and color pencils on scraps of watercolor paper, that I began the journey to developing my unique style of whimsical art. These small originals, affectionately referred to as “Mini Kini's”, are virtual snapshots of the way I see and experience the world around me. On a daily basis, I try to remember to experience life and art-making with the enthusiasm of a child: Wonder at the beauty that surrounds us... Experiencing sheer joy simply from seeing breathtaking color... Giddiness when an artwork I've created makes someone else as happy to own as it made me to make it.... and humor – unabashed humor – to laugh not only at the silly whimsy in life, but at myself as well. I find no greater joy as an Artist than when through my work, my inner animal-loving, day-dreaming child has connected with yours.

In 2005, I licensed my art business (KiniArt) and made it my full-time job. I sell my original works online through my own website and at a couple of other online venues. I do also enjoy painting with mixed media of acrylics, India inks, and watercolor pencils on canvas, however the majority of my studio time is spent on small scale illustrations on paper, such as the ones featured in my children's books.
