New Artists come to Garry Oak Gallery this November
Rodger Schnee - Functional Wood Artist
Rodger Schnee is an inspired and inspiring sculptor of wood and is a new full member of the Garry Oak Gallery. He creates one-of-a-kind tables as well as smaller display pieces, many with turquoise inlay. Rodger takes a very spiritual approach to design and lets the wood speak to him and tell him what it wants to be.
Elizabeth Moncrief - Weaver and Textile Artist
Elizabeth Moncrief, award winning weaver and teacher, is our guest artist for two months. Her work has been exhibited in Colorado, Wyoming and Washington State. She has been writing for Handwoven Magazine, Interweave Press and LongThread Media since 2009. Elizabeth states, "I weave as part of our collective heritage but also to produce beautiful textiles. It’s both an art and a skill that I have pursued for 20 years and have the greatest joy from teaching both beginning weaving and advanced workshops." She currently teaches weaving workshops for Skagit Valley College and various weavings guilds in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.
