Jennifer Beaudoin Moffitt Artist Bio:
Jennifer Beaudoin Moffitt first explored fusing with glass in 2012. Her professional career was in visual arts, advertising and management where she learned to make designs clean, uncluttered and to keep meticulous records. Glass fusing fascinates her as it utilizes both sides of the brain, requiring both creativity and scientific understanding. She began showing her work in craft shows, then juried art fairs, most recently in Bellevue. In Maryland, where she spent the majority of her
life, she was a president of her art glass guild, built their current website and remains the webmaster. The call to live in an area where nature is king and the pace is humane brought Jennifer and her husband to Oak Harbor, WA. She now enjoys a separate art studio behind her home and looks forward to growing her fused glass practice. She is a graduate of a three-year glass fusing Masterclass with Narcissus Quagliata, the world’s leading innovator in the medium.

Creativity, to me, feels as though I am channeling. When I loosen my mind, ideas, images and inspiration flow in and I capture it for exploration. My signature candle design, my glass river, is such an example. Glass sheets for fusing are purchased with undulating edges. I used to feel they were wasted glass. Nonetheless, I saved each as I cut them off. One day I was inspired to turn those edges toward each other, creating negative space. I then filed that space with dichroic frit which does not become smooth as does the field of color in which it sits, allowing the frit to maintain a rough texture after a full fuse. My carer background in advertising taught me that
white space, in my case bold color, is my friend and that designs should have one hero element to catch the eye. I am a graduate of a three-year glass fusing Masterclass with Narcissus Quagliata and as such I am currently exploring painting with glass which may veer my focus from candle creation to wall art. I recently moved to the Pacific Northwest, from Maryland, with my husband.
