Artist Bio
A retired Marriage and Family Therapist, Satya Ma paints primarily in oil. Her artistic interests arise from her rich spiritual life which inspires her to paint contemplative, joyful and peaceful subjects, whether they be depicted through portraiture, figure, still life or landscape. Satya Ma strives to discover and express the sacredness of each subject she encounters. It is her aim to portray this in the most visually poetic and integral way possible. Satya Ma has shown her pieces in Open Studio as well as Morro Bay Art Association and Beacon Art Show (all while living on the Central Coast of California.) She is currently showing her work online at Pacific Northwest Art School. As a recent transplant to Whidbey Island in Washington State, (Oak Harbor) she looks forward to engaging in the rich artistic opportunities this beautiful region offers. Artist Statement For me, painting (primarily in oil) represents an extraordinary privilege, an attempt to describe ineffable beauty, or a sacred moment. It is an earnest effort to give thanks and to depict stillness through visual content. When painting landscapes or still life motif's, saints, Sages, Angels, Light Bearers or Truth Tellers, (from any tradition) I am attempting to listen, and the painting is a pictorial representation of my hearing. In short, when listening culminates in understanding, a beauty comes forth and shares something of the ether from which it arose. This is how I understand art, and attempt to honor that inclination. |
