Brenda Pike
PhotographyBrenda Pike has always been attracted to art in all its forms. She has been fascinated by the way that photographers can stop a scene so that we can focus on one subject.
Brenda states, "I never took a picture with an SLR camera until I was 30 years old. A friend loaned me his camera to take on a vacation to Mexico. I was sure that I would not be able to use it. I remembered the hours it took my Dad to take pictures when I was small. However, after a few brief instructions I did take the camera with me. I really didn’t know at the time that I had an eye for photography, but the pictures that I took on that trip remain some of my personal favorites." "I continue to carry that early talent for seeing as well as a need for constant exploration. I feel this strongly when I look through my camera lens. I see an image that leaves me breathless at times. Visual images are strong teachers and can convey ideas that help us along life’s journey. Sometimes I feel compelled to write poems about what I see in the pictures that I create." "With the advent of digital technology I have now gone digital. I use my scanner and the Photoshop program to further enhance the images I capture. I love the look that backlighting, on a computer screen gives to an image. I love to expand my ideas with this technology and I hope that what I do inspires others toward their own unique creativity." |
Brenda Pike's Photography"Discovering abilities, that I didn’t know I had, has taught me that each of us has talents exhibited in different ways; we each have our unique gifts…our unique art. We can turn our attention toward them, focus on them, allow our gifts to capture our hearts and use these abilities to make a difference. I believe our creative expressions make us different and yet can help us to understand the differences in each other. It is with these ideas in mind that I express my gifts." "I’ve spent more than 30 years fine-tuning my own creativity. In addition to photography, I have been a professional teacher, a singer, a jewelry designer, and corporate marketing manager. I have a BS in Music Education and a Masters in Human Behavior." |
