After a life changing event, Joanne Deckwa began searching  for  an emotional outlet and a means to express herself. She had always loved to wear  "special" jewelry and making her own became the answer. This new adventure began by creating  her  first pieces from "vintage" jewelry. She took old pieces, some family heirlooms, and made them into new creations. When she gave them to family  and friends,  those pieces became affectionately dubbed as "Early  Joanne". When she tried to get them back to restring into  more  professionally done pieces, it became evident that they were cherished just the  way  they were. She then realized that she had found the answer and the outlet for  her creativity.

Joanne states, "Over the years I have attended many jewelry  classes and have worked with my friends to learn ways to keep my  jewelry designs  fresh and exciting. Finding unique focal beads, unusual colors and rare stones  keeps my designs 'one of a kind'. I also take pieces that  have sentimental  value to clients and redesign them. Jewelry designing has  become a wonderful  passion."
