Judy was born in San Francisco and traveled the world before settling in Coupeville, WA. Upon retirement from a 40-year career in nursing, she rekindled her longtime interest in art with lessons from varied talented local artists. She loves nothing better than to escape to her art studio and paint! Judy is delighted to show her art and share the enjoyment it brings to others.
Judy has always liked to express herself through form, color and texture. Put a crayon, pencil or paintbrush in her hands and she is challenged and happy! Noting details of a wonderful landscape, object or person and being able to represent these details in an artistic format gives her great satisfaction. She loves that art is not necessarily innate, but can be learned with grit, sweat and determination. Judy is currently working in acrylics and finds the medium forgiving and expressive. She is somewhat a “closet” artist, but enjoys sharing her paintings and the pleasure it brings to others.
Artist Statement
I am inspired by the incredible diversity of life surrounding me. I may note a grand landscape or a small doorknob. It is this “seeing” ~ the light, the angles, the colors ~ that inspires me to paint. I currently work with the medium of Acrylic because it allows tremendous flexibility to express the thoughts and emotions that inspire my paintings. I am delighted when my thoughts and emotions connect with a viewer.
