Acrylic, Oils & PastelsArtist Statement:
Whether in oils, acrylics, charcoal or pastels I portray to my viewers a glimpse of the awe and appreciation that I feel and the peace that I find when opening my eyes to see the beauty of creation. My paintings are usually landscapes or waterscapes. These can include people, boats, buildings and creatures such as birds. Though I reference from my own photographs (some plein air), I reserve the right to make changes at will. I also paint an occasional abstract. Education: Union College, Lincoln Nebraska 1 semester including class of “Art in Everyday Living” Walla Walla University, College Place, WA Received BA degree in Home Economics inc. 2 art classes, 1 quarter of ceramics DeAnza College, Foothills, CA 1 year in drawing class and one semester in printmaking Skagit Valley College, South Whidbey campus 2 years basic watercolor painting New Renaissance Academy, Freeland, WA w/ Libby Berry, instructor 6 week intensive study of oil painting and drawing Artists of South Whidbey group approximately 5 years Show and Sale once or twice a year Whidbey Island Artists (formerly Greenbank Artists) Learn from each other through doing and critique Show and Sale once a year |
